Luk 13:32
And he said unto them, Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third day I am perfected.
This day is a day that will bring great joy to Jesus, for it is even the joy that was set before him when he endured the cross. The Greek word for perfected is teleioo and means to perfect, finish, complete, to reach a goal, etc.
Paul speaking to the church of Philippi. We believe Paul caught a glimpse of what God is revealing to His ecclesia today (the Lord’s Day, the third day). It is hidden in Phil 3.
Phi 3:4-7
4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. 7 Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ.
Vs5 Looking in verse 5, what does Paul consider a loss for Christ?
circumcision the eighth day
Being born an Israelite (hmmm why do Christians today think physical Israel are God's people when Paul counted it as loss…)
Being of the tribe of Benjamin
Being a Hebrew of Hebrews
Being a Pharisee
Being full of zeal
Persecuting the church
Blameless and righteous according to the LAW…
Vs7 All of this was considered as loss for Christ…
So the natural things are counted as a loss as far as Paul is concerned. So if the natural things are a loss, what things do you think are important?
The spiritual
Phi 3:8-10
8 Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: 10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;
Vs8 Paul specifies and says he counts all things as loss…
Vs8 Paul counts all the things he has lost as dung
G4657: any refuse, as the excrement of animals, offscourings, rubbish, dregs of things worthless and detestable
Vs8-9 everything is dung And the only important thing is gaining Christ
Vs9 these are the things that Paul considers worthless:
self-righteousness
Righteousness-based on law
Only righteousness via faith in Christ (which is from God) has value
Vs10 Paul desires to know Christ and the power of his resurrection.
I wonder what that means? Seems to be a wide range of applications including the intimacy between a man and wife such as Joseph and Mary. (Luke 1:34 and Matt 1:25)
What is the power of His resurrection? Not sure.
(Share e-Sword on this verse)
resurrection
G386: anastasis
-noun
-a raising up, rising (e.g. from a seat)
a rising from the dead
-that of Christ
-that of all men at the end of this present age
-the resurrection of certain ones history who were restored to life
Remember this!
Vs10 The fellowship of his sufferings and being conformed unto his death…
What might this mean?
to live as he did (sufferings?)
to die as he did (death?)?
Phi 3:10-14
10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death; 11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before. 14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Vs10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection:
(show this in E-Sword)
G386: ANASTASIS -noun
-a raising up, rising (e.g. from a seat)
a rising from the dead
-that of Christ
-that of all men at the end of this present age
-the resurrection of certain ones history who were restored to life
-Show the root of G450
G450 ANISTĒMI
means: arise, lift up, raise up (again), rise (again), stand up (-right).
-Remember: ANASTASIS
Vs11. if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead.
(show this in E-Sword)
Resurrection: G1815
EXANASTASIS
a rising up, a rising again
resurrection
Origin G1817 (show this in ESword)
from G1537 and G450.
G450 ANISTĒMI
means: arise, lift up, raise up (again), rise (again), stand up (-right).
G1537 EK, EX means: out of, from, by, away from
Vs10-11 (share this portion)
Resurrection in vs10 is anastasis
Resurrection in vs11 is exanastasis
Ex means: out of, from, by, away from
The OUT Resurrection
This word EXANASTASIS is only used one time in the New testament
That doesn't mean it's not spoken of in the New testament in other fashions
So vs11 actually reads:
Phi 3:11 if somehow I may attain unto the out-resurrection from the dead.
What is the OUT RESURRECTION from the dead?
Have you ever heard of it?
Vs12 Paul continues and says that he hasn't already obtained this out resurrection or even been made perfect
But Paul is pursuing it in an attempt to grasp it…In the same way that Jesus grasped it.
Spoken another way…Paul is aggressively chasing after the OUT RESURRECTION in order to seize it (comprehend it, grasp it, lay hold of it, find it, detect it, take possession of it)
Wonder what it is?
Vs13 Paul reiterates that he hasn't grasped or laid hold of the OUT RESURRECTION yet.
But that he needs forget (not care about, neglect) the things that are behind, stretching out to those in front
What can we assume is in front of him that he is reaching for? The OUT RESURRECTION
Vs14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high (upward) calling of God in Christ Jesus.
What do your bible versions have?
Phi 3:14 (NUMNT)
I follow on toward the mark unto the prize of the upward calling of: God in Christ Jesus.
Phi 3:14 (ESV) I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
What is this prize? We can assume it is the OUT RESURRECTION…
We just aren't sure what this is yet
Maybe it's just everlasting life?
Vs14 Paul is aggressively pursuing toward the goal in order to get the prize…
Prize or award is only used in one other instance…
1Co 9:24
Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.
So in order to qualify for this high (or upward) calling we need to play an active role because it's not just a freebie.
Eph 2:8 for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
This OUT RESURRECTION seems to be something above and beyond. Either we actively chase it or we don't receive it.
Phi 3:15 (ESV)
15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.

Rev 20:1-6
1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
What do you think is meant by "the thousand years"?
Day 7 when God restores and judges etc on the earth via these people.
