The out resurrection/overcomers/sons of God?
Phi 3:10-11
10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection (ANASTASIS), and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death; 11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection (EXANASTASIS) from the dead.
Phi 3:14
I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
1Co 9:24-25
24 Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. 25 And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
So we looked at resurrection, in particular, the first resurrection. I believe the first resurrection corresponds to the OUT RESURRECTION or EXANASTATIS.
In Rev 20:4-6
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
In verse 4 a group is presented that seem to be first resurrected and play a part in reigning with Christ for a thousand years. Or a day…DAY 3 or 7 when the body of Christ is perfected.
Seems these people that are included in the first Resurrection and play a vital role on day 7 or 3.
Vs4 These were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God
Vs4 They worshipped not the beast, neither his image
Vs4 received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand
Vs4 They live and reign with Christ for a thousand years (or for one day). The 3rd or 7th day.
Vs4 They are given thrones which they sit on
Vs4 They are given the ability to judge and pass judgment
Vs6 They shall be priests of God and of Christ
Vs6 Called blessed and holy
Who are these people?
Sons of God?
Rom 8:19-22
19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
Overcomers?
Rev 2:1-7 Ephesus
7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh (Nicolaitans and leaving their first love), to him will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.
Rev 2:8-11 Smyrna
10…Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh (tribulation and enduring unto death) shall not be hurt of the second death. (Already resurrected in the first resurrection, therefore the second death has no power)
Rev 2:12-17 Pergamum
17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh (the teaching of Balaam and the Nicolaitan error and didn't deny faith), to him will I give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no one knoweth but he that receiveth it.
Rev 2:18-28 Thyatira
26 And he that overcometh (spirit of Jezebel), and he that keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give authority over the nations. 27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to shivers; as I also have received of my Father: 28 and I will give him the morning star.
Start here
Rev 3:1-6 Sardis
5 He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Vs1-2 What type of works did they do? Not sure. These seem to be considered dead with none of their works being perfected
Vs2-4 What did they overcome? They repented and became watchful, they received and heard. I'm guessing some of their works became perfected.
Vs4-5 What did the overcomers receive? There seemed to be just a few of these. They received white garments, and their name wasn't blotted out of the book of Life, and Jesus confesses their name before the father and his angels.
Vs4 Remember Jesus comes as a thief to steal garments. These people were watching and ready when he came, therefore he didn't steal their garments. These people walk with him (and reign) with them in white.
Rev 3:7-12 Philadelphia
12 He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and mine own new name.
Vs8 What type of works did this group have? They were given a little power and didn't deny this word for his name.
Vs9 also …Jesus makes the synagogue of Satan come before the church of Philadelphia and worship before their feet in order for them to see how much Jesus loves them.
***Why would Jesus allow this?
In Rev 19:10 And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Yet in this verse, John won't allow anybody to fall at his feet and worship him. Odd…
I think it is related to the statement in Revelation 20 that says these people in the first resurrection are blessed and holy. I'm assuming they have glorified bodies.
We've never seen anything like this unless of course we were to witness Jesus when he was resurrected.
And if these people are also the sons of God who play a part in restoring creation, it seems like they would be held in high regard.
Vs10 also this church is guarded from the hour of trial which tries the earth dwellers.
Thoughts: if these have already received their resurrected body in the first resurrection, might they be the ones who are dishing out God's wrath on the earth dwellers? Maybe
Vs11 Notice that this group already has a crown. So they seem to have received their prize given to those who received the high calling of Christ Jesus?
Vs11-12 What did this group overcome? I'm not sure. Certainly the temptation to not hold fast? Or fall away…
Vs12 What did the overcomers receive? They are made a pillar in the temple of God. The name of God is written on him and the name of the city of God is written on him. And Jesus's new name is written on him. Just like a lot of things this is metaphoric. They haven't been turned into physical pillars made out of concrete in a physical Temple.
Rev 3:14-22 Laodicea
21 He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.
Vs15-17 What type of works did this group have? This group doesn't have any works. They are lukewarm, thinking they are rich. Jesus spits them out of his mouth because they are lukewarm wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked.
Vs18 What does this group overcome? They they repent to overcome their lukewarmness and their blind naked state by:
buying gold refined by fire which will make them rich.
Buying white garments to hide their nakedness
And to buy eye salve to see
Vs21 What did the overcomers receive? He will sit down in Jesus's throne the same way Jesus sat down with the father in His throne.
Obviously the group of overcomers that have won the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus will be small. But powerful. That doesn't seem to suggest those that have received the gift of salvation won't be resurrected. They just aren't yet.
Here is an example of the small group from the "OUT RESURRECTION". Also known as OVERCOMERS and SONS OF GOD.
Dan 12:1-3
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who standeth for the children of thy people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Oddly enough, this suggests that there will still be unrighteous people on the Earth. And that these wise, bright shining people will turn them to righteousness…
Luk 17:24
for as the lightning, when it lighteneth out of the one part under the heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall the Son of man be in his day.
First off, what day is being referred to here?
Luk 17:30 after the same manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.
3rd or 7th
This unveiling or revealing of the son of man seems to include Jesus in his resurrected body of believers. Probably the overcomers / sons of God that we've read about that come with authority and power.
Mat 13:40-43
40 As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, 42 and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.
If time, Rev 12:1-11
Lastly, here is another 7th day parable…
Jdg 6:1-5
1 And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah: and Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. 2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of Midian the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds. 3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east; they came up against them; 4 and they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance in Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. 5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents; they came in as locusts for multitude; both they and their camels were without number: and they came into the land to destroy it.
Vs5 - notice they come in as locusts. Locust is an insect that eats up and destroys God's crop.
Judge 6:6-12
6 And Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah. 7 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah because of Midian, 8 that Jehovah sent a prophet unto the children of Israel: and he said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; 9 and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drove them out from before you, and gave you their land; 10 and I said unto you, I am Jehovah your God; ye shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell. But ye have not hearkened unto my voice. 11 And the angel of Jehovah came, and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. 12 And the angel of Jehovah appeared unto him, and said unto him, Jehovah is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.
Gideon is typified as being a mighty man of valor. Very much like the perfected body of Christ on day 7. Or another example would be the man child in Revelation 12 who was born and immediately caught up to the throne of God.
God is speaking this story as if Gideon had some experience as a warrior. He didn't. But God wants us to notice that he is using Gideon as a metaphor of something else.
Judge 6:13-18
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh, my lord, if Jehovah is with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up from Egypt? but now Jehovah hath cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian. 14 And Jehovah looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian: have not I sent thee? 15 And he said unto him, Oh, Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. 16 And Jehovah said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. 17 And he said unto him, If now I have found favor in thy sight, then show me a sign that it is thou that talkest with me. 18 Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and lay it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.
Jdg 6:16 And Jehovah said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
Which man?
Jesus
the son of man
the resurrected overcomers who are a part of the body of Christ
the man child…
Judges 6:19-23
19 And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of meal: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it. 20 And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so. 21 Then the angel of Jehovah put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there went up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and the angel of Jehovah departed out of his sight. 22 And Gideon saw that he was the angel of Jehovah; and Gideon said, Alas, O Lord Jehovah! forasmuch as I have seen the angel of Jehovah face to face. 23 And Jehovah said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
Vs23 Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
We think that Gideon is afraid of dying because he saw God. But, God is actually telling the resurrected sons that they won't die.
Judges 6:24-32
24 Then Gideon built an altar there unto Jehovah, and called it Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. 25 And it came to pass the same night, that Jehovah said unto him, Take thy father's bullock, even the second bullock seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the Asherah that is by it; 26 and build an altar unto Jehovah thy God upon the top of this stronghold, in the orderly manner, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt-offering with the wood of the Asherah which thou shalt cut down. 27 Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as Jehovah had spoken unto him: and it came to pass, because he feared his father's household and the men of the city, so that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night. 28 And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built. 29 And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they inquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing. 30 Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die, because he hath broken down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the Asherah that was by it. 31 And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye contend for Baal? or will ye save him? he that will contend for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him contend for himself, because one hath broken down his altar. 32 Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal contend against him, because he hath broken down his altar.
So it seems that one of the first tasks that God has the resurrected overcomers/sons of God do is tear down the altar of Baal and Asherah.
Judges 6:33
33 Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east assembled themselves together; and they passed over, and encamped in the valley of Jezreel.
Does anyone remember what is in the valley of Jezreel? (Also known as the valley of Megiddo) Armageddon
So we see that the resurrected overcomers are fighting a spiritual battle here on Earth
