Types/Shadows of God's people (part 1)
Faithful Disciples vs Faithless Disciples
Hi y'all. I wanted to share a few more verses w you about the dream I shared of the world series (or Super Bowl) game between the Twins vs Temple.
This game/group was being fought out by these teams:
Twins
Joh 20:29 ASV Jesus saith unto him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: ….
and
Temple
...blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
This is a call/game btw God's people. The other similar examples are all over the bible. Once I saw them, I couldn't unsee it.
10 Virgins
Here is a second group:
First Matt 25:1-13. 10 virgins, ALL ASLEEP, and ALL AWOKE. Five with oil, 5 wo. All God's people. Jesus only takes 5 w oil
The bridegroom takes 5 virgins to the marriage where they feast on God's word, power, authority etc. They are not "raptured", but are given the ability to feast at the bridegroom's wedding. Quite an honor.
The 5 not taken were told to go and get their own oil from those that 'buy and sell'. Who are these buyers and sellers?
Most likely the merchants of Babylon.Or those that buy/sell in the temple that Jesus HATED and cast out.
Zion vs Jerusalem
Here is a third group of his people. Zion vs Jerusalem
It's hidden in the bible. But if looked at it long enough, you'll see that they are two separate entities (at times). Sometimes they refer to the same thing. And really God loves his faithful Zion. In the New Testament, it would be spiritual Zion.
Read Psalms 87
Psa 87:2 ASV Jehovah loveth the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Psa 87:3 ASV Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.
Zion is tops in God's eyes. Incredible things are spoken of her.
Psa 87:7 ASV They that sing as well as they that dance shall say, All my fountains are in thee.
All God's fountains are in Zion.
So equating who Zion would be in the New Testament, Zion would probably refer to those people in John 20:29 "blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
Zion might also represent the 5 virgins with oil that bridegroom took to the marriage feast in Matt 25:10.
Distinctions between Zion a Jerusalem
Now let's look at 2 Sam 5:6-9 to see distinctions between Zion and Jerusalem.
First:
2Sa 5:6-9
6 And the king (David) and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither; thinking, David cannot come in hither.
7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
8 And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and smite the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.
9 And David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
So David takes the stronghold of Zion. And dwelt there. And built round about from Millo (a citadel, rampart or defensive castle of sorts which protects Jerusalem). So Zion was the citadel (Millo) which was used to defend Jerusalem.
And David built round about from Millo and inward. He built Zion and INWARD.
One might have expected him to capture Zion and build outwardly to include Jerusalem. He didn't. He built inwardly. So his goal was to make sure Zion was built up, not Jerusalem. And He didn't let the blind or lame into his house.
So Dave forshadows Jesus. Jesus builds his spiritual Zion who he loves. Jesus builds up his spiritual Zion where is fountains are (Psalms 87). Not Jerusalem. Jesus also doesn't let the spiritually blind or lame into his house of Zion.
What about Jerusalem?
In 2Sa 5:8 And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites (who live in Jerusalem), let him get up to the watercourse, and smite the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.
So Dave says the blind and lame can't enter into Zion and that there are blind and lame in Jerusalem that need to be killed. David hates the lame and blind.
In a New Testament spiritual way, Jesus won't allow the spiritually blind and lame to enter into Zion. But he does allow the spiritually blind and lame to remain in Jerusalem. That is, at least for a time. And like David, Jesus spews the blind and lame out of his mouth and wants not only Zion to be pure, but also Jerusalem.
Jesus' desire is that no spiritually blind or lame live in his house. This will eventually occur but not without great hardship for Jerusalem. Great sorrow.
The sister passage of 2Sam 5 is 1 Chron 4-9 tells us alittle more about the same event.
1Ch 11:4-8
4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
7 And David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 And he built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
In this passage, Dave takes the stronghold of Zion and restricts his building to primarily Zion/Millo.
But Joab is the one who goes up first to repair (revive) the city of Jerusalem.
In the same way, Jesus restricts the building to Zion. But He will send out His Joab's (I'm unsure who these might be) who will restore/revive Jerusalem. But for Jerusalemites, this comes at a price. A price of sorrow and God's wrath that seems to clean out Jerusalem to the point that this occurs:
Isa 52:1b ...O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
So Jerusalem is eventually cleaned. But it comes at a cost. And it is discussed in Isaiah 50-52. I'll send this in part 2.
*The point here is to be on either:
Temple
5 virgins w oil
Zion
And there are many other examples scattered on the pages of God's word that he took the liberty of hiding that describe a similar pattern.
