Elisha-the double portion-the overcomer-144,000
2Ki 4:8-10
8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. 9 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, that passeth by us continually. 10 Let us make, I pray thee, a little chamber on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a seat, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
Shumen - double resting place
This great woman hears Elisha and recognizes that he is of God. Therefore she prepares a physical room for him to stay at when he passes by. With a bed, table, seat and candlestick, a place to stay when he passes by.
2 Kings 4:11-13
11 And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber and lay there. 12 And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
It fell on a day, which day?
2Ki 4:13
And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful (to tremble, quake, move about, be afraid, be startled, be terrified) for us with all this care (fear, anxiety, quaking, trembling, (extreme) anxiety, anxious care); what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
Why such exceeding fear and anxiety??
Who is the king for (God) or the captain of the host (Jesus)?
2 Kings 4:14-17
14 And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no son, and her husband is old. 15 And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. 16 And he said, At this season, when the time cometh round, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thy handmaid. 17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season, when the time came round, as Elisha had said unto her.
Vs16 - Hmm, let's see, what can we do for her?
How bout a son?
What about just a baby???
What an outrageous promise!
Did they consult God at all? Or just decide themselves because Elisha stands in the presence of God?
A metaphor for Rev 12??
2 Kings 4:18-21
18 And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers. 19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to his servant, Carry him to his mother. 20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.
Vs18 and when the child was grown…
(to grow, become great or important, promote, make powerful, praise, magnify, do great things)
Gen 12:2
and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing:
Vs18.."it fell on a day" notice vs 8, 11 and 18
Vs18…he goes out to his father who is with the reaper…
What are the reapers doing? Harvesting…day 7.
Vs19…my head, my head…? What happened?
V19 And he (father) said to his servant, Carry him to his mother.
Vs20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.
So the man (?) was carried to his mother, sat on her knees till noon, and then died?
Wasn't he too heavy to sit on mom's knees??? What is going on here?
Till noon? Why noon???
Vs21And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.
Did she drag him up the steps to Elisha's room after he died and put him on Elisha's bed?
Any thoughts?
Rev 12:1-5
1 And a great sign was seen in heaven: a woman arrayed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars; 2 and she was with child; and she crieth out, travailing in birth, and in pain to be delivered. 3 And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his heads seven diadems. 4 And his tail draweth the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon standeth before the woman that is about to be delivered, that when she is delivered he may devour her child. 5 And she was delivered of a son, a man child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and unto his throne.
Notice the child is called a man-child…hmmm. Like the child from 2 Kings 4:18. Child or man???
Notice who the child is caught up to….God, the Father. Just like the grown up child from 2 Kings 4:18.
Notice where the child in Rev 12 is caught up to?…the throne. Who else was caught up to the throne?
Overcomer
Rev 3:21
He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.
Jesus
Rev 3:21
He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.
Elisha seems to be an overcomer…
2Ki 3:14
And Elisha said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand…
Rev 3:12
He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and mine own new name.
Getting back to 2 Kings 4, what calamity met the grown up child?
Unsure except it referenced his head.
Heatstroke? Hit in the head w a sickle?
What would the head represent?
Eph 1:20-22
20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,
Col 1:18
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
So Jesus is the head of His body, the church.
So, being part of the body, whose head do we want?
What might this verse mean?
Rev 20:4
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Being beheaded is a metaphor for those that "lose their own head" in order to put headship on.
Think of the irony of what Herod did to John the Baptist.
Mat 14:10
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
Herod's beheading of John was an unintended honor given (by Herod) to John the Baptist from God's perspective.
Back to 2 Kings 4:
A great woman recognizes the 7th day Elisha ministry and that it is a holy thing from God.
She feeds it, creates a permanent room for it, showing great reverential respect and holy fear for it
The 7th day Elisha - the double portion - overcomer ministry who knows the will of the Father because he is standing in his presence and prophesies the pregnancy of the woman from Rev 12.
The woman has the baby.
Suddenly the man child is grown or somehow becomes great and is out with his Father at the harvest.
Because He is with his Father, and because he sits on the throne, the knows who the head is. (Jesus)
If he is caught up to heaven, the man-child would be very much aware of the glory and honor that Jesus deserves as the head of the body.
As such, the 2 Kings 4 man child needs to lose his own head. Or symbolically be beheaded.
Hence he cries:
2Ki 4:19
And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to his servant, Carry him to his mother.
Notice the Father from 2 Kings 4 isn't very concerned that the son is crying "my head, my head". Metaphorically speaking, the Father expects the man child to lose its head to Jesus, the real head.
2Ki 4:20
And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.
Why till noon? Why does he die at noon at the harvest (on day 7)?
Amo 8:9
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
Jer 6:4
Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day declineth, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
Metaphorically speaking, it is the noonday son when this manchild dies because he has taken on the headship of Jesus. And will be used by Jesus in the punishing of the wicked.
Said another way: For those without understanding of this, the earth is getting darker and darker. To the man-child, it is noon because the rays of the sun are at their highest point and cast no shadow on the earth.
