Mat 5:38-39
38 Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 but I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
What's the point?
No longer pay back evil for evil
Don't resist evil
If somebody whacks you, turn your other cheek and let him whack you there also
Mat 5:40-42
40 And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
What's the point?
If somebody would sue you to take away your coat, let him have your coat. And give him your cloak also.
Don't resist evil. It's no longer an eye for an eye.
If someone compels you (or forces) you to go a mile, go two miles
Go above and beyond measure for somebody regardless of whether they're good or bad?
Give to the borrower or asker.
Mat 5:43-45
43 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy: 44 but I say unto you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; 45 that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.
What's the point?
In the past, you loved your neighbor and hated your enemy.
But now I want you to love your enemies and pray for those that abuse you
Why? So we can be sons of our Father who is in heaven
Why else? He sends rain on the just and the unjust.
Why else? Because he makes his sun rise on both evil and good people
If God is making sons of us, who's image are we being molded into?
So we can assume that God and Jesus already have these characteristics such as:
He doesn't resist evil
He turns the other cheek when someone smites him
If someone sues him for his cloak he would also give him his coat
If somebody asks of him, he would give and not turn them away if they wanted to borrow something
He loves his enemies
He prays for them that persecute him
Mat 5:46-48
46 For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same? 48 Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
If you love those that don't love you, do you accumulate rewards?
Even publicans can love those that love them. Does he mean Republicans?
And if you greet (or embrace) only your brother, that's what everybody else does. Even the publicans do that…
So be perfect like your heavenly Father is perfect.
He loves not only those that love him but also those that don't love him.
He also doesn't just greets or salute his brethren. But He salutes those that aren't his brethren.
Salute
to draw to one's self
to salute one, greet, bid welcome, wish well to
to receive joyfully, welcome
In conclusion:
He doesn't resist evil
He turns the other cheek when someone smites him
If someone sues him for his cloak he would also give him his coat
If somebody asks of him, he would give and not turn them away if they wanted to borrow something
He loves his enemies
He loves not only those that love him but also those that don't love him.
He also doesn't just greets or salute his brethren. But He salutes those that aren't his brethren.
He loves his enemies
So how does an eternal hell fire fit into this picture?
On one hand it seems like they receive their just rewards for wickedness.
Yet on the other hand, it seems like an element of hypocrisy. Do as I say, not as I do.
Love your enemies, but I take the liberty of punishing my enemies forever and ever with no end…
Esp when we are also given these promises:
Rev 21:4
and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.
1Co 15:26-27
26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death. 27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.
Isa 25:8
He hath swallowed up death for ever; and the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken it.

G5020 tartaroō
Thayer Definition:
1) the name of the subterranean region, doleful and dark, regarded by the ancient Greeks as the abode of the wicked dead, where they suffer punishment for their evil deeds; it answers to Gehenna of the Jews
2) to thrust down to Tartarus, to hold captive in Tartarus
Per Vine's Dictionary
The verb tartaroo, translated "cast down to hell" in 2 Peter 2:4 , signifies to consign to Tartarus, which is neither Sheol nor hades nor hell, but the place where those angels whose special sin is referred to in that passage are confined "to be reserved unto judgment;" the region is described as "pits of darkness,".

And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades (hell) shall not prevail against it.
G86 hades
Thayer Definition: the place (state) of departed souls: - grave, hell.
Per Vine's Dictionary
Incorrectly rendered "hell" or "the grave" or "the pit".
corresponds to Sheol in OT
"the region of departed spirits of the lost" (but including the blessed dead in periods preceding the ascension of Christ).
"the unseen"
It is not the permanent region of the lost; in point of time it is, for such, intermediate between death and the final doom of Gehenna.
Christ declares that He has the keys of it,
The word is used four times in the Gospels, and always by the Lord, Matthew 11:23; 16:18; Luke 10:15; 16:23; it is used with reference to the soul of Christ, Acts 2:27,31; Revelation 1:18; in Revelation 6:8 it is personified, with the signification of the temporary destiny of the doomed; it is to give up those who are therein, Revelation 20:13 , and is to be cast into the lake of fire, ver. 14.

By Jesus' time in the New Testament, the Greek translation of Hinnom Valley, “Gehenna,” became a synonym for hell. For this reason, the English New Testament versions of the Bible translate Gehenna as hell.

Hinnom Valley Historical Background
1. In the lower part of the Hinnom Valley and Kidron Valley, the city dumped its waste and burned its trash.
2. Because the Hinnom and Kidron Valleys are located on the southeast side of Jerusalem, the prevailing winds carry the winds away from the city. For this reason, it became the city dump.
3. Dead animals from the temple sacrifices were thrown there to rot and be eaten by worms and maggots.
4. Trash was burned here.
5. The city sewage was emptied here.
6. It was smelly, ugly, burning, crawling with worms, full of rot, and full of disease.
Jos 15:8
and the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the side of the Jebusite southward (the same is Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the uttermost part of the vale of Rephaim northward;
2Ki 23:10
And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
What did worship to Molech entail?
It is believed that idols of Moloch were giant metal statues of a man with a bull’s head. Each image had a hole in the abdomen and outstretched forearms that made a kind of ramp to the hole. A fire was lit in or around the statue and babies were placed in the statue’s arms or in the hole. When a couple sacrificed their firstborn, they believed that Moloch would ensure financial prosperity for the family and future children.
Topheth may be the exact location in the valley of Himmon where the children were sacrificed. Topheth means "place of fire"
This verse describes how King Josiah puts a halt to idolatry in the valley of Himmon.
Ironically it may have been Solomon who first built the idol to Molech.
1Ki 11:7
Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, in the mount that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.
