Elisha
receives a double portion after Elijah is taken to heaven
Isaiah 61 expounds on when the double portion occurs
The day of vengeance
Also known as the 7th Day
Day of the Lord
Isaiah 61 expounds on what the double portion provides
No more shame
No more dishonor
This will be reflected in the life of Elisha as we shall see. Dishonor and shame won't be tolerated
Shall build up old waste places
Raise up old former desolations
Repair waste cities
Earth begins to spring up or bud spiritually
Trees of righteousness
Giant metaphor here. The 5th and 6th day church is unable to bring forth. Until day 7, when the double portion Elisha ministry is empowered. Truly bring forth.
?Rev 12:1-2
1 And a great sign was seen in heaven: a woman arrayed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars; 2 and she was with child; and she crieth out, travailing in birth, and in pain to be delivered.
?Isa 66:6-10
6 A voice of tumult from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of Jehovah that rendereth recompense to his enemies. 7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man-child. 8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? shall a nation be brought forth at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. 9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith Jehovah: shall I that cause to bring forth shut the womb? saith thy God. 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn over her;
2Ki 2:19-22 Elisha is at Jericho
Remember when the double portion occurs:
19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, we pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is bad, and the land miscarrieth. 20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him. 21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and said, Thus saith Jehovah, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or miscarrying. 22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spake.
Jericho = " its moon" What does the moon represent?
Vs19 The water is bad (evil, malignant)?
What does water represent?
Eze 47:1
And he brought me back unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward; (for the forefront of the house was toward the east); and the waters came down from under, from the right side of the house, on the south of the altar.
Eph 5:25-26
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; 26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
Rev 22:1
And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb,
Vs19 The land miscarrieth
barren, make childless, unfruitful
(Me read) Remember last week:
Isa 61:8
For I, Jehovah, love justice, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
Why did God say He "hated robbery" in Isaiah 61? What was He robbed of?
Offspring
Jer 15:6-8
6 Thou hast rejected me, saith Jehovah, thou art gone backward: therefore have I stretched out my hand against thee, and destroyed thee; I am weary with repenting. 7 And I have winnowed them with a fan in the gates of the land; I have bereaved them of children, I have destroyed my people; they returned not from their ways. 8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall upon her suddenly.
Hos 9:11-14
11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird: there shall be no birth, and none with child, and no conception. 12 Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, so that not a man shall be left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them! 13 Ephraim, like as I have seen Tyre, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring out his children to the slayer. 14 Give them, O Jehovah— what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
Vs20 Elisha says “Bring me a new cruse” (jar, bowl)
Why?
Mar 2:22
And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the wine will burst the skins, and the wine perisheth, and the skins: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins.
Vs20 Elisha says “put salt in it”. And they brought it to him
Mat 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.
Mar 9:49-50
49 For every one shall be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace one with another.
Vs 21 Elisha goes to the spring of water and threw salt in it and said, “Thus says the LORD, I have healed this water; from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it.”
Elisha speaks "Thus says the Lord"
-he speaks for God?
"I have healed this water"
-example of day seventh restoration
"from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it."
-no more death nor miscarriages of spiritual offspring
Rev 21:4
4 And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.
Notice: the first things
Rev 21:5-6
5 And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true. 6 And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Notice:
all things are made new
him that is thirsty can drink freely Why?
-they waters have been healed
-Like Elisha said: "from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it"
Rev 21:7
7 He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Rev 22:2-3
2 in the midst of the street thereof. And on this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no curse any more: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein: and his servants shall serve him;
2Ki 2:22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spake.
***What does the metaphor here suggests??
Once the Jesus comes again and heals the land, the word, His people, it won't be corrupted again.
2Ki 2:23-25
23 And he went up from thence unto Beth-el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead. 24 And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Jehovah. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two lads of them. 25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
Elisha now heads up to Bethel, the House of El.
Young lads come out of the city and mock him. Saying "go up you baldhead, go up thou baldhead".
Young - BDB Definition: young, small, insignificant, unimportant, small, insignificant, young, unimportant
Lads - BDB Definition: a boy, from infancy to adolescent, youth, servant
Mock - BDB Definition: disparage, ridicule, scoff, scorn
Insignificant (immature) boys come out from the "House of God" and mock the 7th day, double portion, overcomers (Elisha) ministry.
Go up, bald-head, go up, bald-head.
Go up - ascend, climb, spring up, arise, grow, shoot forth
Bethel is in the hill country of the Samaria region about 10 miles north of Jerusalem. Elevation is 2900 ft high, one of the highest places in Israel.
Bald-head - bald
Used in this verse:
Lev 13:40-41
And if a man's hair be fallen off his head, he is bald; yet is he clean.
41And if his hair be fallen off from the front part of his head, he is forehead bald; yet is he clean.
***In theory, a bald man is spoken of as being clean.
But it speaks of young boys as mocking Elisha. Why? What do they really mean?
Kinda like: HEY, CLEAN SPIRITUAL MAN, CLIMB UP HIGHER, CLIMB UP HIGHER!!! (spoken in a mocking tone)
2Ki 2:24 And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Jehovah.
"And he looked behind him"? What does this mean? What is behind him? The church age
Why does Elisha curse them?
Remember, this is day 7. Isa 61:2b says "the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn"
Do you understand what I mean by this "day of vengence? Day 7?
Isa 61:7
Instead of your shame ye shall have double; and instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be unto them.
2 Kings 2:24b And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two lads of them.
She-bears?
Hos 13:8
I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.
Lam 3:10-11
10 He is unto me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places. 11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.
Pro 17:12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, Rather than a fool in his folly.
Amo 5:17-20
17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.18 Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! Wherefore would ye have the day of Jehovah? It is darkness, and not light. 19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. 20 Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Notice what occurs in Day 7, the Day of Vengeance:
God/Jesus passes thru all His vineyards
And meets them like a bear (who has had her cubs stolen)
Great wailing and sorrow from the those in His vineyard who think they know Him.
Forty two?
It is a number connected with Antichrist. An important part of his career is to last for 42 months (Rev 11:2, 13:5), and thus this number is fixed upon him. Another number of Antichrist is 1260, and this is 30 x 42.
Its factors are six and seven (6x7=42), and this shows a connection between man and the Spirit of God, and between Christ and Antichrist:
-Forty-two stages of Israel's wanderings mark their conflict with the will of God.
-Forty-two young men* mocked the ascension of Elijah to Elisha, 2 Kings 2:23, 24.
Being a multiple of seven, it might be supposed that it would be connected with spiritual perfection. But it is the product of six times seven. Six, therefore, being the number of Man, and man's opposition to God, forty-two becomes significant of the working out of man's opposition to God.
There may be something more in the common phrase about things being all "sixes and sevens." They are so, indeed, when man is mixed up with the things of God, and when religious "flesh" engages in spiritual things. See under "Six and Seven,"
***So the 7th day, day of vengeance, double-portion Elisha ministry comes fiercely against the anti-Christ spirit which is found plainly in the vineyards of God. Or the wayward church that is FULL of the spirit of antichrist.***
2Ki 2:25
And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
