Previously, we did a study on the Christmas star…dates and times of the Bethlehem star and Jesus birth more than likely is Autumn 3BC. This study is based on the thought that Jesus was born in 3BC and was crucified in Spring 31AD.
We have been taught our whole life that Jesus died Good Friday afternoon and was resurrected Sun morning. That's not even two full days, not even 48 hours!…Jesus says this:
Mat 12:39-40
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet: 40 for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
So He says 3 days and 3 nights He will be in the heart of the earth.
So he dies on Good Fri in mid to late afternoon
And He has arose already by Sunday at sunrise
Lets count the # of days and nights.
Friday daytime -one day
Friday nite -one nite
Saturday daytime -one day
Saturday nite -one nite
Sunday daytime -He is already arose by sunrise. Does this count as a day? -one day
AT BEST YOU HAVE 3 DAYS AND TWO NIGHTS, BUT REALISTICALLY YOU HAVE 2 DAYS AND 2 NITES
Something doesn't add up to 3 days and 3 nights. It leaves us in a conundrum…
First off, when does a Hebrew/Jewish day begin and end?
Gen 1:5
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
Gen 1:8
And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
Gen 1:13
And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.
Technically they wait till they can see 3 stars in the sky before the current day ends and the next begins.
Nevertheless, I kept reading and I began to notice these terms that how the gospels define them:
Tomorrow
Two days
Three days
Now that we know how the current day is layed out (begins at sunset and ends at sunset), let's look at tomorrow.
On the morrow
Mat 27:62
Now on the morrow, which is the day after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together unto Pilate,
Two days
Mat 26:2
Ye know that after two days the passover cometh, and the Son of man is delivered up to be crucified.
If Passover/crucifixion day is Friday (like we have always heard), on what day is Jesus speaking this? Tuesday, remember sunset on Thurs nights is technically Friday, the Passover.
Third day
Mar 9:31
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he shall rise again.
Luk 13:32
And he said unto them, Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third day I am perfected.
Now is Jesus waiting for the third day to be perfected? No he is already perfected. Who will be perfected on the 3rd day?
Luk 22:1-7
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death; for they feared the people. 3 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went away, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might deliver him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6 And he consented, and sought opportunity to deliver him unto them in the absence of the multitude. 7 And the day of unleavened bread came on which the passover must be sacrificed.
Passover
What do we know about the passover? Exodus 12:3-8
Num 28:16-18
16 And in the first month (Nisan or Abib), on the fourteenth day of the month, is Jehovah's passover. 17 And on the fifteenth day of this month shall be a feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. 18 In the first day shall be a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work;
NISAN (1st month) - corresponds to March/April
14th day of NISAN - the passover
15th day of NISAN
shall be a feast
this day begins a 7 day feast, so the 15th-21st
For 7 days, no unleavened bread shall be eaten
What is it called? Feast of Unleavened Bread
This first day (15th) shall be holy convocation (assembly)
No work is to be done on this day
What day does this sound like? Sabbath
This was called a “High Sabbath”
No matter the day of the week it fell on, it was treated like a Sabbath. And of course, the regular Saturday Sabbath was also celebrated.
Repeated Again ….
Lev 23:5-8
5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, is Jehovah's passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto Jehovah: seven days ye shall eat unleavened bread. 7 In the first day ye shall have a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah seven days: in the seventh day is a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work.
Ezr 6:19
And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month. (of NISAN)

In 2024, the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread are celebrated on 4/22 - 4/30. This changes every year and is dependent on the phases of the moon.
Let's fill in the days of Nisan
What day is the Passover?
When is the Feast of Unleavened Bread?
What day is Saturday?
When is the High Sabbath?
SO THE REAL QUESTION IS THIS. WHEN WAS THE PASSOVER AND FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD IN 31AD, WHEN JESUS WAS BEING CRUCIFIED?
And will it lead to helping us know if Jesus really was crucified Friday and arose on Sunday?
Did Jesus celebrate the Passover & Feast of Unleavened Bread in his life? Yes, when?
Luk 2:41-43
41 And his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up after the custom of the feast; 43 and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem: and his parents knew it not;
At the beginning of his ministry (vs11)
John 2:13-14
13 And the passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And he found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
Not sure if Jesus went to Jerusalem or not
John 6:3-4
3 And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. 4 Now the passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
Joh 13:1
Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
This is the same Passover as we started reading about in Luke 22.
#### three days?
Luke 22:8-16
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we make ready? 10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house whereinto he goeth. 11 And ye shall say unto the master of the house, The Teacher saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? 12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. 13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. 14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 for I say unto you, I shall not eat it, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
Luke 22:17:17-32
17 And he received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 for I say unto you, I shall not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, even that which is poured out for you. 21 But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 For the Son of man indeed goeth, as it hath been determined: but woe unto that man through whom he is betrayed! 23 And they began to question among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. 24 And there arose also a contention among them, which of them was accounted to be greatest. 25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles have lordship over them; and they that have authority over them are called Benefactors. 26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. 27 For which is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am in the midst of you as he that serveth. 28 But ye are they that have continued with me in my temptations; 29 and I appoint unto you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed unto me, 30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat: 32 but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.
